CFD is a powerful engineering tool for simulating all types of fluid behaviour. It provides detailed descriptions of fluid flow characteristics including values for velocities, pressures, temperatures, and other variables.

CFD significantly reduces design and development time, provides more detailed information than physical experiments, and quickly simulates a wide range of flow conditions. Different fluids can be modelled at the same time (i.e. water and air), taking into account viscosity and turbulence (real flow conditions). Time domain calculations (dynamic pressure loads, seakeeping analysis, slamming loads, etc.) can also be performed.
