At the 12th annual ferry shipping conference in Sweden was presented with the prize at KNUD E. HANSEN A/S it is called, the efficient and innovative design of the Saudi - owned Ro-Ro vessel Bahri Abha.

Naval Architect Christian Damsgaard is currently stationed in the United States is behind the award-winning design - It has been a truly customized task from start to finish, where the owner's requirements have been respected throughout, says CEO of KNUD E. HANSEN A/S, Finn Wollesen Petersen.

Less fuel consumption

- We are very pleased to have won this award and I am very proud of the entire team, says the director. The Naval Architect of the award-winning design, Christian Damsgaard , denotes the ship as flexible.

- Although the ship has no container capacity, it is simultaneously specialized to handle all kinds of cargo. Also loading facilities are important. It can take anywhere from heavy equipment to oil research equipment and construction machinery.

Shippax Prize was founded in 1999 to foster innovative design solutions. When the jury has a very thorough knowledge of all the constructions that can be considered for the price, this award is regarded as one of the most prestigious in the ferry, ro-ro and cruise industry.

The vessel, designed and drawn in Elsinore, has a large capacity and is optimized for rapid turnaround in the harbor.

The design is unique because the ship is smaller than others in Bahria fleet, as it has lower fuel consumption.

According to KNUD E. HANSEN A/S’s estimated calculations, these new lightweight ships use up to 45 percent less fuel and is therefore cheaper to operate, and it is more climate-friendly.

Prestigefyldt pris til Knud E. Hansen A/S
