On March 18, 2008 MV Clipper Point left Astilleros de Huelva heading for her new home on the Heysham-Warrenpoint route. Being the first of four vessels, the Concept Design was developed by KNUD E. HANSEN for owners Seatruck Ferries which is part of the Clipper Group. The design is highly optimised to meet the payload requirements of Seatruck Ferries and the contraints of the port of Heysham. She features three RoRo decks all serviced by internal ramps and accommodation for 12 drivers/passengers. Clipper Point is fitted with feathering propellers and the maximum speed is 22 knots which combined provides her with a very flexible operating window.

Subsequent to the Concept Design, KNUD E. HANSEN was contracted by the selected yard, Astilleros de Huelva, Spain, to develop a full Basic Design comprising all structural, safety, machinery and stability design.
