Refits & Conversions

KNUD E. HANSEN A/S undertake design, dimensioning, calculations on conversions such as lenghtening or change of accommodation spaces.

Ship conversions are an efficient and cost-effective mean of getting more out of existing ships, but only if done right. KNUD E. HANSEN A/S has extensive experience in conversion projects, having completed more than 300 such projects, and conducted feasibility studies into many more. These include for example dimension/capacity changes, life extension, re-purpose, change of regulations, accommodation refresh and energy saving.

We work in every stage of the conversion process; from initial feasibility, to sending engineers into the shipyard, to ensure the project progresses smoothly. In our experience, the amount of time and effort invested at the beginning, is a key component of project success. After all it is much easier to change drawings on paper than in built steel. Therefore we work closely with the owner at the beginning to better define the requirements and boundaries.

Below are selected examples of refits and conversions undertaken by KNUD E. HANSEN A/S.
