The first of the 6,500 CEU DF PCC (Car Equivalent Units, Dual Fuel Pure Car Carrier) for Wallenius Marine AB has been launched at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. shipyard in China.
This innovative vessel is designed to transport cars ballast-free. One of the key features of this design is the incorporation of adaptable multi-fuel engines. This allows the vessel to utilize a variety of fuels, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied biogas (LBG) and marine diesel oil (MDO). By offering multiple fuel options, the ship can optimize its fuel consumption and emissions based on availability.
She is designed with an aerodynamic shape to significantly reduce wind drag during operation. This does not only improve fuel efficiency but also minimize the carbon footprint of the ship.
Both vessels will be delivered 2024 and chartered to the VW Group upon delivery.
