This 80,439 grt vessel was designed by Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding, USA, as one of a pair of Cruise Ships for American Classic Voyages Inc. When the latter went into liquidation in 2001, the unfinished vessel was bought by Norwegian Cruise Line and completed at Lloyd Werft, Germany. She went into service in 2005.
