Project specification
Download specificationThis vessel was built for Stena by Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, in 2003. KNUD E. HANSEN carried out the Concept and Basic Design for two conversions. The first, in 2006-2007, involved lengthening the vessel by 29.3 m.
For this we carried out the Concept and Basic Design for the Owner, which involved Structural Design of the new midsection, weight estimates, stability calculations, escape analysis and other statutory requirements. We then provided detailed design services to the shipyard, together with a site team to assist with coordination, inspection and project management. Floating calculations were also carried out to facilitate the handling of the sections.
The second conversion, in 2010-2011, involved adding an additional accommodation deck. We again carried out Concept and Basic Design for the Owner, consisting mainly of structure, stability and statutory requirements. We also carried out the steel inspections during the conversion.
